Gani Gërguri was born in Istog, Kosovo in 1960. After graduation with distinction from the Faculty of Economics - University of Prishtina, he completed the Postgraduate studies in Organization and Management at the Faculty of Economics – Universityof Zagreb in Croatia. In 2009, Mr. Gërguri completed MBA in Finance with distinction from the University of Sheffield.
He started his career with National Bank of Kosovo in 1983 in Statistics and Analysis Department. He was employed at the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (CBK) as Head of Research and Statistics Department in 2000, whereas in 2004 he was promoted in the position of Chief Operations Officer of the CBK. In January 2006, Mr. Gërguri was appointed as a Deputy Managing Director of the CBK, whereas in September 2008 the Governing Board of the CBK has appointed him as a Deputy Governor, then as Acting Governor in 2010, and as a Governor in May 2011.
Mr. Gërguri has participated and contributed in many international conferences on central banking issues and financial stability issues. Also, he has completed specialized courses organized by the IMF Institute and other international institutions.
